Overview

TypoIQ (“we”, “our”, “us”) is a Chrome browser extension and web service that provides real-time writing assistance. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it. We do not sell your data.

What We Collect

Text snippets: When you invoke a correction or rewrite, the selected text is sent to our API for processing. We do not store this text after the response is returned.
Usage statistics: Aggregate counts of corrections made, stored locally in your browser via chrome.storage. Never transmitted without your consent.
Account information: If you create an account, we store your email address and subscription status via Supabase.
Payment data: Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
Technical logs: Standard server logs (IP address, timestamp, HTTP status) retained for up to 30 days for security and debugging.

How We Use Your Data

To provide, operate, and improve the TypoIQ service.
To process your text through our AI correction pipeline (OpenRouter / GPT-4o-mini). Text is not used to train AI models.
To manage your subscription and process payments via Stripe.
To send transactional emails (account confirmation, receipts) — never marketing without opt-in.

Chrome Extension Permissions

storage: Saves your preferences and usage stats locally in your browser.
activeTab: Reads the active tab only when you invoke TypoIQ — not passively.
scripting: Injects the correction UI into the page you're editing.
host_permissions (<all_urls>): Required so the extension can activate on any site where you write. We never read page content without a user-triggered action.

Data Storage & Retention

Your account data is stored in Supabase (EU region). Text processed for corrections is not persisted. Local browser data (usage counts, settings) stays on your device and can be cleared via chrome://extensions at any time. Account data is deleted within 30 days of account deletion.

Third-Party Services

OpenRouter — routes AI requests. Text is processed transiently and not stored by us.
Supabase — database and authentication.
Stripe — payment processing. Governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy.
Vercel — web hosting.

Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by emailing hello@typoiq.com. If you are in the EU/EEA, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Cookies

The typoiq.com website uses no third-party tracking cookies. We may use a single session cookie for authentication purposes only.

Children

TypoIQ is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the service evolves. Material changes will be announced at typoiq.com and via email to registered users.
